Just think if you chose not to go with the air conditioning option, just because it was $10 less, and you found yourself in a tropical region during a heatwave. Or if you went without the car stereo system (not likely) and you expect to be on the road for hours. My point is that you don't want to give up some of the accessory options that we take for granted just because we're looking for the best deal on a cheap car rental.

Your car rental should have everything you need to get you where you want to go, and it shouldn't be missing anything "important". Just because it's an older vehicle with some wear and tear doesn't mean it should be without the basic necessities. Your cheap car rental should still be reliable, mechanically sound, and safe to drive, not some clunky jalopy that "might" get you there. And just a reminder, older vehicles often use more gas, so consider what you're spending versus what you're saving.
